How to 1 - 2

The Nissan SR20DET is the turbo charged flagship motor of the S-series (s13, s14 and s15) platform. These motors respond very well to aftermarket tuning and have gained a reputation for being cheaper than most motors to create usable horsepower.

They come standard with a fairly reasonable turbo and are very punchy motors in standard trim. An SR20DET will respond well to an aftermarket turbo and there is a large support network in America, Australia and of course its home - Japan. Read on if you would like more horsepower from your SR20DET!

Remember only ever run a HP figure within your motors capabilities. If the internals of your car are standard then it is a gamble to screw the boost up and really race the motor. However SR20DETs are well known for being a tough piece of equipment and, in my belief; handle some extra punishment straight out of the bow as it were. I do recommend a fully built motor in most cases when upgrading a motor’s turbocharger or running higher than standard boost with the same size as an original turbo. Don’t forget that making HP is a multiplier effect. Before long you will have to be upgrading this and that and you will realise the bolt on turbo kit actually needs another 25 components to keep it going efficiently and for an enhanced duration.
